Change in Russian government back in 2000 seemed hopeful for the West and the world. Putin’s new government pulled Russia up and, somehow, re-established its weight in international arena by rearmament and strength in its armed forces. Even though Putin’s take over seemed an opportunity for optimistic future relations with the West, his ambition of being treated as an equal power with western powers, namely the United States, as it was during the Cold War was an end of such optimism.
Nevertheless, some questions remain unanswered, such as what comes next and how Russians will understand their president’s aggression afterwards and so on.
Ukrainians can never forget or forgive what Russia has already done, let alone work with Putin’s agents as part of a new and larger Russia governed as Russia today is governed
